Canon Jim Rosenthal will be with us from London to help reveal the truth about Santa Claus and the need to reclaim New York’s original patron saint.  St. Nicholas points to the miracle of Bethlehem, not to himself, as the true focus of Advent and Christmastide.

Dr Rosenthal is the co-author of St. Nicholas: A Closer Look at Christmas (Thomas Nelson Books) and a new children’s storybook, Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

He is the founder of the St. Nicholas Society UK/USA.  He also serves as director of communications for the Anglican Communion and as editor of Anglican Episcopal World magazine. Originally from Chicago, he dons the costume of St Nicholas and in 2006 made eleven UK and one USA appearances. On December 8th, he will be joined in Canterbury by the archbishop for the seventh annual festival at the cathedral.

Auden's Christmas Oratorio

In honor of W.H. Auden’s centenary, Affinity Company Theater and The Poetry Society of America present a dramatic performance of the masterful poem, FOR THE TIME BEING: A CHRISTMAS ORATORIO. Written in 1942 when the world was at war, this Christmas parable juxtaposes private meanings and religious liturgy, simultaneously audacious and devotional.
